Overview
This project consists of a welded steel sculpture of an elephant, 8’ x 3’10” x 10’ and finished in a white powder coat. The head is balanced on a bearing to nod in the wind, or at the slightest touch of a hand.
Goals
Designing the correct size of the elephant was essential to fit in the courtyard entry to the hotel.
Process
This sculpture is the second White Elephant sculpture for the New England Development company small hotel chain. There is a similar sculpture placed at the White Elephant Hotel in Nantucket. The developers reached out to Prescott eleven years after the first commission to create a second sculpture for the new hotel in Palm Beach.
