Overview
Organic beach grass forms create a relaxed atmosphere at a busy train station in Melbourne, Australia. Standing up to 18′ high, the steel poles express movement in the coastal breeze while the illuminated plumes shift colour temperatures throughout the night.
Goals
The main create something robust yet expressive of a relaxed, free energy... to integrate the atmosphere of the nearby beach into the busy and perpendicular world of the train station.
Process
Studio JT worked closely with SculptureCo - a Melbourne based fabricator to produce and install the work. SculptureCo produced the metalwork, while Studio JT developed the lighting with Coolon to showcase their new "Plume" product, with built in Casambi programming.
