Overview
“WISH” an animated short film commission, Redmond WA. This five-minute animated short film was commissioned by the CIty of Remond for the 2022 Redmond Lights festival and screened at Redmond Downtown Park nightly for five weeks, This film was a collaborative effort between visual artist/art director Johanna Porter and animator/editor/art director Max Hess. The world music soundtrack was created by artist Guy Buttery from South Africa. The film features an origami crane that travels the world spreading the message of peace and amplifying that wish with every hand it touches.
Goals
The film's goal is to generate a feeling of peace and to recognize our common humanity. The project was inspired by the Peace Crane Project. Children around the world create origami cranes and write messages of peace. These are then exchanged with students in other countries around the world.
Process
110 Adobe Illustrator vector storyboards with multiple layers were created and the motion graphic animated was completed using Adobe AfterEffects. The film was then edited to coordinate with the soundtrack using Adobe Premiere.
