Overview
As part of the HarveyB.Gantt Center’s community arts project, Monique collaborated with local residents of the Renaissance West Community. Formerly known as Boulevard Homes, a formerly crime-ridden public housing complex that was torn down, she created a mixed media collage installation located at the entrance of the community, greeting visitors and residents alike and that incorporates the neighborhood’s history in a unique way.
Goals
Project Objectives: to acknowledge the history of the neighborhood and bring healing through community artworks.
Process
Monique worked with local residents and community members to incorporate historical and important items and images into the artwork through a series of community workshops.
