Overview
“Visual Playground” sculpture is part of the exhibition by 14 sculptors in Kennard Park, Newton, Massachusetts. My sculpture installation aims to transform it's surrounding into a visual playground. I have been playing with the idea of games in my recent work. I bring creative thought, geometry, and rhythm into each game. This sculpture recreates visual elements from a board game. These are the player pieces, and the ground itself is the board. There are 15 pieces made from extruded polystyrene boards with hardcover epoxy coating, finished with exterior latex paint.
Size: each piece is about 48″ x 48″ x 2″
Goals
My sculpture was site specific installation influenced/inspired by the environment, landscape, history and circumstance of the site. I had the unique opportunity to work intimately within a community whose mission is to provide traditional and innovative recreation, and cultural activities in a quality environment for all residents of Newton, as well as managing the preservation, maintenance, and enhancement of the natural resources of the city.
Process
I've worked closely with the organizers, curator and production support team.
