Overview
As a nod to the site’s art-infused history, the fence that surrounds the perimeter of the park was designed to include 24 unique designs by local artists to carry on the tradition of displaying the work of Utah’s diverse art community. Sixteen artists were selected to design panels for the park fence including Traci O’Very Covey.
Goals
Traci’s panel was inspired by the vegetables and flowers grown in the adjacent community garden. As the park is a unique and shady respite as well as a garden space, Traci captured the feelings of hope, harmony, and aliveness that are often synonymous with nature.
Process
The Call for Artists solicited designs for the fence panels while the City was responsible for fabrication. Each 3 x 3 foot panel was laser cut and fabricated in Corten steel.
