Overview
Our client wanted to make the stairwell a more inviting alternative to the elevator. Their goal was to use art to promote stair use & improve health. The use of Monte's photographic art helped to turn a mundane walk up or down the stairwell into a stroll thru a garden, along a waterfall or thru a mountain trail with encouraging words along the way.
Goals
The VA has encouraged facilities throughout the country to create an environment that promotes employees to be more physically active. One suggestion was to use art in stairwells to inspire staff to walk instead of taking elevators. Integrating the artwork into this project was very important, we installed inspirational murals that included inspirational quotes on the stairwell walls.
Which was the overall design goal.
Process
We worked closely with Jennifer P., the interior designer for the project. We communicated over email and phone calls, narrowing down the image selection and quote selection to go with each image.
Additional Information
This project was so well received that they are continuing the project to include the other stairwells in the facility.
