Overview
Trail Blossom is a public sculpture consisting of 5 flower forms and three benches in Dudley Park in Athens Georgia. The elements of the flowers and benches are inspired from skateboards and bikes parts. The sculpture built with steel and Ipe stands 21' tall and sites within a 16' diameter circle.
Goals
The sculpture was placed along a Rail-to-Trail path. It is situated almost at a hill crest with visual site lines in three major directions acting as a landmark for the site and the trail. it has become a place maker in the sense that the community uses its location and placement as a meeting place and landmark.
Process
The project was designed and built by the artist after a site visit and discussions with the site designers as to future layout, use and landscape of the location.
