Overview
NEW INDIANAPOLIS AIRPORT INDIANA USA Architects: HOK
500 square metres antique stained glass.
Goals
Inspirations have been drawn from poems commissioned
by local writers in Indianapolis; thoughts of welcome,
home, warmth and safety to dreams of adventure,
excitement, far off places and the future.
Process
Some of the windows have the text acid-etched into the
surface of the glass while others are based on
references to the local landscape at different
times of the day and year.
Additional Information
The commission is one of the world’s largest stained glass projects at a total of over 500 square metres, it includes 14 windows of differing sizes with 114 sealed units and 2,385 individual hand made panes of antique glass.
