Overview

Located in the Cultural Historic District of downtown Cumberland, Maryland, the Cumberland Mural is a public art project designed to enhance the streetscape and bring art and culture to the Downtown Walking Mall. This mural uses bright, bold nature-inspired colors and soft blends to create a calming effect on the viewer. The landscape is framed by Classical architecture that echoes out the historic nature of the surrounding buildings in Cumberland. In the picture there is also a sign for the city of Cumberland, and makes a great photo backdrop for passersby and tourists in the area.

Goals

The goal for this public art project was to enliven the streetscape of Downtown Cumberland, which was lacking in artistic expression and diversity.
