Overview
The Aster consists of two retail/residential apartment towers with a wide paseo in between them as a community gathering place. At the end of this passageway is a 1890 historic brick house which was home to Christopher Cramer and his flower shop. As a nod to the history past of this property, the mural was to portray the idyllic imaginings of his field of flowers.
Goals
The goal was to create vibrancy and a touch of whimsy through art. The colorful mural connects the past and present through the imagery of flowers. The color palette of the art ties in with the interior design finishes and color scheme.
Process
Traci was contacted by Anne Dawson to discuss the criteria for the mural. A budget was determined, retainer accepted, and the initial creative work began. Traci learned more about the vision of property and reviewed the interior color palette and look book of the furnishings. She then started conceptualizing a symbolic visual portrayal of a floral design and presented the design direction for the mural including a color presentation. Traci and her team painted the mural on site with brushes and rollers using high quality interior acrylic latex.
