Overview

Sea Glass consists of 18 wave-shaped resin panels suspended from the 24 foot ceiling. The building is close to the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and its sandy beaches. The overall theme of the building is related to the ocean and also has the historical significance of being built on the location of Atlantic City’s first hospital. This new facility will serve families, women and children regardless of ability to pay. The third floor features a dedicated state-of-the-art space for teaching medical personnel.

Goals

The sculpture depicts abstract soft waves, sky and sand dunes. My goal was to create a soothing and peaceful sculpture that would greet patients as they enter the main entrance into the atrium.

Process

I met with the Foundation Project Manager and the building Construction Project Manager while the building was in construction. At hanging, I worked for multiple days with the installation crew and a scissor lift so that the work was hung to my specifications. We used aircraft cable to attach the panels to the ceiling.
