Overview
Sunrise Sunset is comprised of 20 canvas-wrapped acoustic panels of abstract photography created for a Training Room at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Goals
The curation team’s goal for the Training Room at the state-of-the-art laboratory building was to add two installations of artwork to a large meeting space that will be used by staff, visitors and as a backdrop for future live-streamed events.
Process
Working closely with the curation team and senior management of the VML, I was given the opportunity to choose images which would create warmth within an all white space. I produced custom artwork by transforming a single “Sunrise Sunset” image into three individual images at different dimensions within the layout suggested by the team. Two identical installations allow for symmetry in a versatile space which can be partitioned to create two rooms. The flexibility of my artwork enabled us to scale to custom sizes quickly and produce all pieces within an aggressive time table. The use of printed canvas wrapped acoustic panels assists with sound absorption in the large space.
Additional Information
Having my work serve as a visual respite for the employees and visitors to the Training Room at the Vanderbilt Medical Lab is a great honor.
