Overview
Title: Sunrise. Materials: Plywood, Aluminum, Custom Electronics. Dimensions: 18' x 8' x 12″, built into a custom wall. Description: This was a featured installation at the ArtMarket art fair, Fort Mason Pavilion.
Goals
ArtMarket is a premier fine contemporary art fair in San Francisco. This installation was created in a quite space aside from the main fair. It provided a place of repose in contrast to the hectic environment of a large art fair.
Process
I was approached by the directors of the fair, having exhibited work there and completed a site-installation in previous years, to create a high-profile light installation for a space at their fair. We did some quick design reviews, and they chose this design.
Additional Information
I loved hearing responses from people who visited the quiet installation space. Many shared a sense of awe and wonder, and many stayed for a long time.
