Overview
A triptych, “Sunlit Lake” is an abstract work consisting of three photographs printed on metal, which were created for the Transplant Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Goals
The VUMC Transplant Clinic art selection team worked closely with the VUMC art curator and chose my work when selecting pieces for a new VUMC Transplant Clinic (Nashville, TN) in order to create a peaceful place for transplant patients, their families and staff.
Process
I was contacted by the Transplant Center art selection lead who was working with architects and designers to build a new Transplant Clinic. The team wanted to use my art in their new lobby setting. I presented a concept of work specific to Tennessee which was widely agreed upon. I spent months creating images, and presented a body of work for consideration. The piece “Sunlit Lake'' was chosen for its calming appeal and neutral, pleasing color palette. The flexibility of my artwork enabled us to quickly scale the selected images to three large (30” x 40”) pieces within an aggressive timeline. We chose a material that is durable and easy to clean, which is important for artwork in this healthcare setting. The floating Chromaluxe panels serve as an anchor image for the peaceful lobby space.
Additional Information
It was a privilege to create artwork to fulfill the mission of making the Transplant Center a warm and welcoming place.
