Overview
An immersive walk-in icosahedron form commissioned by the Exploratorium for permanent installation at the Kiewit Luminarium in Omaha, NE in 2023. As viewers move within the space, interaction between twenty identically shaped triangular panels in different colors illustrates changing qualities of light. Steel, acrylic panels, 20″ x 20″ x 20″
Goals
Stella's goal is to engage and inspire diverse populations with an artistic immersive environment that experientially illustrates qualities of light and geometric forms, as well as providing an imaginative and immersive space for visitors of all ages.
Process
Working with parameters provided by the designers of the Kiewit Luminarium, Sean Orlando and Engineered Artworks conceptualized this immersive space and engineered the complex steel framework and colored acrylic patterns. Installation was complex, as the work is partially suspended above the entrance to the museum, accessible via a suspended walkway.
