Overview
Commissioned by Noyes Art Designs to create a large mixed media piece for the entry lobby of the new St. Anthony Pavilion Medical in Denver, CO.
Goals
The mixed media panels were installed in a recessed niche next to the main elevator entry to complement deep wood walls and clear etched glass panels. The concept was designed to be a colorful point for the large lobby. A close up of a high country summer meadow of painted textured handmade paper and fused glass was the intent. The state flower, the Colorado columbine, was to be incorporated into the design.
Process
The size of 42" x 96" to fit into the niche was determined. The consultant requested deep layers to accent the deep niche. A stair-step panel of four layers was determined, alternating between textured paper and fused glass backed by mirror.
