Overview
Recycled copper wall sculpture along the walls located in the lobby of Gulf Gate Library Sarasota, FL. The copper used to fabricate it was the copper strips removed from the roof of the old library when the library was remodeled – 2013. Materials: Copper, Aluminum, Stainless steel. Dimensions: H:6’ x W:64’ x D: 1’
Goals
The goals were to honor the rich history of the library and celebrate its impact on the community and inspire people to engage in life-ling learning. It was very important that the copper from the old library be integral to the artwork in the new library linking the pass, the present and the future.
Additional Information
The sculpture fits the space beautifully; it was meant to be there. It is a striking piece of artwork that will delight and inspire future generations of library lovers. The artwork was installed during summer 2021, Because of Covid 19 the dedication ceremony was held January 2023.
