Overview

Spectrum, a 26-foot tall stainless steel and acrylic sculpture, was installed at the Planet Walk Sun Station on the B&A Trail. Spectrum is the sculptural essence of the sun. The central hub is one of nine rings surrounding forty prisms. These rings not only represent the nine planets but gives a visual illustration of the light moving outward from the sun. Within the center hub of Spectrum are forty prisms. The prisms reflect and refract the sun’s light rays producing an ever-changing spectrum of color. Spectrum is the first of 10 sculptures, the sun, and each planet for Planet Walk. Each sculpture is to be unique and gives visual form to the essence of each planet.

Goals

The hike and bike trail offered an opportunity to entertain and educate people about our solar system.
