Overview
“Silent River” is a wall-mounted relief installation and painting made of oil and acrylic on layered, hand, and laser-cut Mylar and Lexan. The size is 159h x 148w x 8d inches.
Goals
For my inspiration, I used the South Platte River (in Denver, Colorado), native plants, and colors related to a desert-like and mountainous environment. The overriding goal was to create something warm, engaging, comforting, and suitable for a healthcare lobby.
Process
I worked closely with the Arts Venue director via zoom, phone calls, and emails, and sent monthly or bi-monthly progress photos. I also hired a local Denver framer who helped me design and install the plexiglass encasement for the installation. We met via a phone call and exchanged emails with design drawings. Eventually, we became friends once we met in Denver. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and easy to work with; I enjoyed working on this project very much!
