Overview
A one-of-a-kind, site-specific, solo exhibition. Using paper as pigment, she layers, cuts, rolls, and combines the humble material into vibrant tableaux that are inspired by the natural world—the flow of water, the shape of beehives, the organic irregularity of plants, and more. For her site-specific installation, Genser explores the mutable beauty of the museum’s natural surroundings, the power of each season, and the beautiful transitions in between. Gallery space is 1,500 square feet and the walls and ceilings are covered with flowing shapes that transition in color.
Goals
This installation was a result of Amy's desire to make her work more sculptural. She is pushing her medium to take on new forms.
Process
Amy was given artistic freedom to use the space.
Additional Information
Amy installed the exhibit over a week in the midst of a cold, February ice storm. Using a scissor lift to move around the space, she arranged the forms and then nailed them to the walls. Response to the exhibit has been fantastic and the museum is keeping the "winter" section installed indefinitely. This section flows in the main stairwell.
