Overview
For a new construction project by Miami-Dade County’s GSA for their own Trade Shops, 3000 square feet of hydraulic cement tiles were designed in an ensemble of 4 patterns, hand-installed by the artist. The colorway and pattern transformed the entry plaza and facade of the building. The reflection of the tile in the extensive windows on the facade created additional interest. A hand-knotted rug of the artist’s design was installed in the lobby, to extend the design vocabulary to the interior.
Goals
The solution was inspired by the geometry of the architecture which featured a dramatic entry plaza. Nature forms reflected the dappled shadow pattern from trees on site.
