Overview

The customer wanted to replace some manufactured sconces in their dining room that came with their home. They also wanted a pair of night stand lamp for the bed room. The night stand lamps had to be functional to be able to read in bed. The lighting had to match the sea life motif they love. I had to create the them out of copper and bronze

Goals

The customers live in Long Beach with their balcony over the sand looking out on the ocean. They are art collectors, most of the art has a sea life theme. I chose a nautilus form for the scones. The color and form matched the mirror and the other furniture in the dining room. They love them so much they gave me more free rein with the night stand lamps. The lamps were more art piece fitting in to the theme of sea life. the lamp shades are hammer copper shells and the bases are heavy craved bronze sea weed forms. All my work is welded with oxygen and acetylene
welding equipment.

Process

I worked with the customers needs. They gave me specific heights and dimensions about the functionality. They had seen my art work and like it and gave me some freedom for design. I all ways gave them a drawing and up dated them with picture to let them know the progress. It was a pleasure to create for some one who likes what I do.
