Overview
Serving as the illuminated gateway into downtown Los Angeles and visible from one of the busiest freeways in the city, Prelude DTLA features a conceptual narrative lighting design mirroring the outline of LA’s famous downtown skyline complete with fully customizable gradient lighting designed to respond to the city’s timely cultural needs .
Goals
The goal was to create a forward-thinking project designed to integrate seamlessly with the larger vision of the future of Los Angeles. The name Prelude was chosen to illustrate the building’s unique position as a responsive gateway for travelers into the heart of the city.
Process
StandardVision designed and implemented the lighting technology and control system to manage custom generative gradients whose colors can be remotely controlled for any occasion - from celebrating sports team wins and festive holidays to participating in culturally relevant conversations.
