Overview
Through informed meditation, astronomy, and an interest in sand mandala paintings created by Tibetan Buddhist monks, Portal 1 evokes the vibration of sound waves. Located indoors at the main exit/entrancce wall at the El Paso International Airport, Portal 1 is a mural that encompasses the entire wall creating an immensive art experience that 70’x17’ in size. The different blue hues pay homage to the bright El Paso sky.
Goals
The mural welcomes El Pasosn and visitors alike into the beautiful and exciting city, through a bright sky inspired passageway. The design highlights metaphor of clear skies, for flying and for a possibility of adventure.
