Overview
Underwater Court at Macy's In Plaza Las Americas is 60'x20'x50'. Constructed of stainless steel, bronze, water and light; Bronze Manatee and Turtle are kinetic with waterwheels. All forms are reflective of Puerto Rico.
Goals
The Underwater Court at Plaza Las Americas is a major attraction for the mall in Puerto Rico and a meeting place. It makes Plaza a unique destination in PR.
Process
Jo Schneider Design LLC designed Plaza as a sub-consultant to the architect RTKL. I then worked for a year very closely with Tallix Foundry to fabricate and cast the work.
Additional Information
I am extremely grateful to a visionary client Empressa Fonalledas for the opportunity and to the talented people at Tallix for helping me realize the project. The project received a Society for Environmental Graphic Design Award.
