Nephele is a sculptural chandelier that illuminates and activates the space beneath it through a woven structure of steel and light. Nephele references the cloud nymph of Greek mythology, creating a suspended object akin to a cloud: formless, edgeless, but luminous and present.
Nephele floats above a public lobby. It illuminates the space and activates it during the day with shadow play and patterns of light cascading on the walls. At night a different creature emerges that illuminates the space through the delicate tips at the sculpture's extended arms.
