Overview

“Moieties” is an extraordinary 10 by 12 foot concrete, acrylic and aluminum wall sculpture created by artist, Troy Simmons. This piece represents a harmonious convergence of materials, form, and concept, inviting viewers to explore the interplay between solidity and translucency, rigidity and fluidity.
Simmons masterfully manipulates concrete, a traditionally heavy and unwieldy medium, into an ethereal composition that seems to defy gravity. The sculpture’s structural elements, meticulously constructed and precisely balanced, appear weightless as they seemingly float against the wall. The artist’s astute understanding of materials allows him to challenge our expectations, transforming the inherent properties of concrete into an expression of lightness and grace.
The interlacing network of lines and sharp angels in “Moieties” embodies a sense of movement and dynamism, evoking the delicate dance between strength and fragility. Acrylic and aluminum inlays, strategically placed within the sculpture, introduce an element of depth, granting glimpses into the underlying layers, creating a mesmerizing play of light and shadow. This duality between the solid and the translucent represents the interconnectedness of opposites, highlighting the inherent balance that exists within our world.

Goals

As viewers engage with "Moieties," they are drawn into a contemplative space, where the physicality of the sculpture merges with the intangible. The piece encourages a reflection on the complex relationships that shape our lives, the yin and yang of existence, and the ever-present interdependence of opposites.
Simmons' "Moieties" is a testament to the artist's skill, vision, and ability to push the boundaries of artistic expression. With its evocative composition and thought-provoking symbolism, this concrete and acrylic wall sculpture serves as a captivating reminder of the multifaceted nature of our existence, leaving an indelible impression on all who encounter it.
