Mirrored Turbine is a pair of seven-foot disk-shaped sculptures commissioned by a corporate client in 2021. The form is a reference to a turbine fin found in a jet engine. Each disk is made from around 10,000 linear inches of ¼ inch black walnut, fastened together with copper rod.
Goals
Commissioned by a corporate client for their Charlotte Headquarters, these pieces were designed for the space outside of the CEO suite. The request was objects that reference the myriad industries in which the company is involved with. There was a desire for the piece to be representational, but not immediately recognizable.
