Overview
Renovation of an abandoned civic treasure by the City of Sarasota. Over 25 volunteers assisted in applying some 80,000 mosaic tesserae to the exterior of the old fountain basin.
Process
The project involved officials from the City of Sarasota, the local historic society and the Sarasota Military Academy. A design was selected to compliment the original 1940's style and approved by the historic society. The academy served as a source of labor while offering students an opportunity to learn the ancient art of mosaic.
