Overview
Inspired by contrails in the colorful Texas sky, Luminous Stratum celebrates the “Spirit of Flight” within the North Texas sky. Created by artist RE:site, this ceiling mounted sculpture consists of semi-translucent, white, acrylic fins, that form a contrail-like wave stretching the length of a long corridor.
Goals
Our role in this project was to illuminate the acrylic with colors reminiscent of the Texas sky. Using LED technology a series of color combinations were programed that morph from the purple and oranges of the sunrises to soft twilight blues. The control system was set up to be easily maintained by airport personnel.
