Overview
The project was designed to honor the founder of Grand Valley State University, L. William Seidman in conjunction with the opening of a new library on campus. The over life-size sculpture is cast in bronze and mounted atop a limestone pedestal.
Goals
The piece placed at the center of campus near the bell tower. Conceptually, it was meant both tell the story of the University's founder visually and serve as an artistic center point in on campus.
Process
The project brought together the university architect, local fabricators, and JBG Sculpture. The parties worked together to install the artwork on time.
