Overview
The concept of Kaiser Permanente's Kraemer Oncology Center, a LEED Gold building, focuses on the special needs of cancer patients, providing for a calming, nature oriented experience.
Goals
The exterior curtain wall glazing has a custom frit pattern that is denser in areas which require privacy, and opens up where views are desired. The design of the glazing system allows for the building to glow at night, symbolizing hope.
Process
Triview Glass Industries was brought into the project at an early stage to assist in the development of the curtain wall. The Yazdani team set out to achieve various effects through multiple iterations of full-scale samples. Triview’s experience and expertise enabled the designers to achieve the desired results for both, spandrel and vision conditions, constructed into a performance efficient, insulated unit.
This was truly a collaborative effort, with the design intent of the architects being supported by the fabrication experience of the fabricator. Thus an award winning project was achieved.
