Goals
The artwork was commissioned by lululemon's internal design team to integrate a local artists work into their luxury NYC flagship retail environment. The goal was to include art that is inspired by and relates to the surrounding area and its rich history.
Process
After being commissioned by lululemon's retail stores art director, Derek Lerner created an artwork proposal document outlining the the overall concept including reference materials and initial mockups presenting as closely as possible how the end result would look. After being approved, Lerner proceeded to create the large scale drawing ultimately providing digital assets according to precise specifications provided by lululemon's architectural, printing and installation collaborators.
