Overview
Icosidodecahedron was commissioned by Canon USA for the showroom of their newly constructed campus headquarters in Melville NY. The light sculpture is 7' in diameter and illuminated by eight video projectors.
Goals
The goals for this commission were to showcase how creative talent is supported by Canon's wide line of digital devices. Integration was important as the projection sculpture was the center piece of this display area, yet is situated among many other displays of photography, video and Canon products. The space is also used for frequent tours with large groups of widely varying agendas. The raised platform and concentric rings in the carpet design were all designed to direct the eye to and away from the work and facilitate easy transition between an immersive digital experience and standard product sales displays.
