This was a commission to paint eight, 4'x3' Icons on wood panels using egg tempera and gold leaf gilding.
The Icons were chosen to reinforce the Church congregation's intention to be welcoming and inspiring to the congregants. The saints who were chosen included the patron Saint and ones that the congregants voted were most important to them.
Initially I submitted a design and budget proposal for the committee to review along with many other submissions. Once chosen , I created eight original drawings to scale and submitted those to the committee, and subsequently met with the committee for feedback. The drawings were approved, a 50% deposit and contract signed, and I completed the project several months later. The remaining balance was paid after a studio visit to view the completed Icons.
This was a joy to work with the people on the committee, the church administrator, and the architect, Richard Vosko. Everyone is well pleased with the results and I am thrilled to have my work so obviously appreciated.
