“Human Rock Installation” consists of an assembled hollow concrete human-made rock emerging from a landscaped berm. Small openings and windows allow viewers to peer inside the rock. Viewer activated knobs and dials operate a video camera and mirrors revealing images inside of rock. This project included fiber optic lighting and internal audio sound.

Goals

Commissioned by USC, Department of Art and Bloom Art Walk. Artist also used an existing wall to mount a curved mirror called the "Chaos Mirror." The goal was to use artwork to enhance the walk ways in front of the Art Building.

Process

The artist was selected from a competition to enhance the Bloom Walk. He worked with the Landscape Department of the USC campus to create the grass berm and decomposed granite pathways to the sculpture.
