Overview
A Public Art Installation in Downtown Asheville NC.
This project was completed as part of the Celebrating African Americans Through Pubic art in Asheville, NC. A collaboration with community members and a team of local artists to incorporate poetry, history and community artworks into a multi dimensional public art installation & mural. The installation is located in two historical places in downtown Asheville celebrating African Americans in the Historical Block.
Goals
The primary objective of this project was to highlight the history and the voice of African Americans in Asheville.
Process
A team of visual artists worked together on a series of workshops and a collaboration of city & community leaders. The community brought historical & personal photos that were incorporated into the final artworks.
