Overview
An oppressive, aging concrete parking structure is transformed by a layered stainless steel facade that provides a new texture appropriate to the city center. Shifting LED lighting colors make for a joyful nighttime experience.
Goals
Revitalizing and energizing a very important block of downtown Lexington that was slowly becoming an after hours destination - directly across from the Downtown Arts Center.
Process
The former Mayor of Lexington advocated for my firm PRP Architecture to design the facade after the structural work was completed. The Parking Authority (LexPark, lead by Gary Means) was very interested and supportive of the process. Vincent Lighting (Adam Hayward) helped us with the lighting solution.
