Overview
Sculpture was moved, then re-installed. We provided panels that surrounded it and lots of technical support to owner and artist, both of whom were deeply involved.
Goals
Goal was to re-set the 2004 commissioned sculpture. Walls around it were artist-designed.
Process
We provided a lot of input on color&finish (technical info on proposed colors and options to stain, later abandoned) and on complex reveals in the panels (eventually abandoned once mounting of plaques was looked at carefully). We also evaluated the existing slab on which sculpture was mounted, and proposed corrections to out-of-square condition.
Additional Information
The artist, the owner (City of Chicago Public Art program), and the general contractor were all very pleased with the advice we were able to offer on all aspects of the precast and it's relation to other materials.
