Overview

Each totemic eagle feather is 20’ x 4’ x 4’. The work is sited in Juneau, Alaska at Floyd Dryden Elementary School. The school mascot is the bald eagle, of which there are many in Southeast Alaska.

The ‘quill-shafts’ are tapered, light poles. The feathers are stainless steel, architectural fabric that is powder coated black at the tips. This stainless, open weave fabric is highly polished and reflects the surrounding ambient lighting.

Goals

The goal was to provide a larger than life detail of the school mascot which is a bald eagle.

To provide a totemic design that would fit in with the scale of the surrounding mountainsides.
