Overview
“Fast Lane”, 18′ tall, automotive paint and stainless steel. Commissioned for the Automotive School at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, NE.
Goals
The goal was to create a work that integrated with the purpose of this building.
Process
The collaboration surrounded myself, the Dean of Arts and Humanities, the Head of Facilities Maintenance, and the Dean of Automotive. Many conversations were had to hone the sculpture into something viable and successful. As well, there was a lot of logistical collaboration to get all the parts to come together for a successful installation.
Additional Information
This is an abstraction of a cartoon stylized car at the moment of initial acceleration. The front end of the car is up in the air, doing a wheelie. While the back tires are spinning, squealing, and creating plumes of smoke.
