Overview
Dude Chilling on sunny afternoon in the park. Original sculpted from western red cedar. Name of park changed in to his, in appreciation of wood original. Subsequently cast in bronze. 10 X 4 X 4 ft.
Goals
This work was created to show a figure talking his ease in a community park where a variety of neighborhood residents, children, frizbee players, yoga practitioners, dogs, winos and unclassified people also take their ease. The park is important to him, he is important to the park. They changed the name.
Process
They asked me for the work. The creation was the easy part. It was well received.
Additional Information
In my creation I seek to minimally imply a human gesture, while at the same time retaining some lines of the gesture of the trees of origin.
