Overview
The theme for this project was "Confluence" — It is on a street pole in the middle of downtown Bellevue. Needed to be at least 18' above the street. This installation engages visitors with interplay of light and color. Colorful acrylic circles are mounted to a street pole and are illuminated as the sun shines through. Science of color theory is on display as the sun shines through two acrylic colors to create a third.
Goals
I wanted to delight and surprise visitors to this urban area with a colorful burst of fun up above. I wanted it to draw the eye upward and away from the hustle and bustle, hopefully giving viewers a momentary respite from their busy lives.
Process
I worked with an engineer, steel fabricators, and art installers to make the project come to life.
