Overview
Norman Mooney’s artwork titled “Dark Star” was showcased in 2021 at Bridge Gardens, New York, and has been drawing attention from art enthusiasts ever since. The sculpture measures an impressive 12ft in all dimensions and is made of aluminum with a clear coat. It features 30 pyramid spikes jutting out from a convex polyhedron, which is characteristic of Mooney’s signature starburst form.
Goals
Mooney's sculptures are renowned for their ability to bridge the gap between the physical and metaphysical world, connecting the viewer's personal sense of self with the larger rhythms and patterns found in nature. The artist believes that his sculptures provide context for our place within the universe and the greater universal mass that surrounds us. With its notable scale and uniform aesthetic, "Dark Star" creates a unique space for people to walk in and around, allowing them to interact with the matter and space around them. Mooney's work reminds us of the interconnectivity of all things and the beauty that can be found in the patterns and forms that surround us.
