Overview
Cuore immacolato di Maria's Church in Avellino is one of the most remarkable work of Master Albano Poli and his glass studio Progetto Arte Poli. Thanks to over 65 years of experience, he managed to achieve something hard to reach, especially in the restoration and enhancement of a pre-existing building.
Goals
The particular architecture, with its wide and overwhelming architectural lights, allowed to realize a unique project, characterized by intense polychrome glass, full of symbolism. The colour becomes the way to catch the viewer's attention and to make him involved in the liturgy.
After the installation of the new artistic stained glass windows, the church seems to have a large white dome suspended above warm and vibrant light walls.
Process
The stained glass windows can be divided into two parts: the lower one characterized by an abstract design and the upper one which is more symbolic. The lower sector is composed by large triangular stained glass windows, where the theme of Creation is interpreted in a contemporary style though using simple and harmonious lines. There is a clear reference to the four elements (earth, air, water and fire) symbols of Creation in the Jewish tradition and also the representation of the seven days.
Additional Information
The entire Church is "flooded with light", which changes during the day and during the year. This holy place can be considered a sacred artwork at 360 degrees.
