Overview
Completion of 3 large scale bronze sculpture fountains for Paris show/opening of Tom Sachs. Had to engineer and plan fabrication of base to include a functioning fountain feature with water coming out of sculpture's eyes.
Goals
The main goal as always is to keep the design as exact to the original as possible. That includes capturing the glue drips, frayed edges of the foam core. Another focus was to create the design of the water fountain as simple and easy to assemble as possible so that when it ships to Paris the people who would receive it would have no problem putting it together for it to work.
Process
The originals came to us in separate pieces which we had to assemble from original photographs. This also included making the seams draftable for the lost wax casting process. Upon approval, we cast the pieces over several months and assembled them in our metal's department. We also designed and fabricated the bases that the sculpture would sit in and assemble the piping that is required for the fountain to work.
