Overview
This graceful and dynamic stainless steel sculpture greets residents and visitors at the entrance to the lobby at the iconic Helena Building on W57TH street in NYC. I was commissioned by Chashama, the not-for-profit organization created by Anita Durst. My proposal was selected in a competition process in which I had to propose a sculpture for a specific site of the lobby.
Goals
The goal was to create a compelling and dynamic work of art for the lobby of this landmark residential apartment building.
Process
I created two dimensional rendering depicting the proposed sculpture in the specific location at the lobby entrance. I was awarded the commission from a large pool of applicants.
Additional Information
The graceful sculpture is 96"H x 48"W x 48"D. it is fabricated directly in stainless steel sheet.
