Overview
Colossal Fragment is a 10ft bronze sculpture of a Cape Malay woman’s face on a stainless steel pin and base. It formed part of the Avenue Concept’s INFLUX 2017 summer exhibition, consisting of more than 20 works of art by local, national, and international artists–and include murals, sculptures, mosaics, and active/visual performances. The projects were concentrated in downtown Providence and the “Cultural Corridor” between Classical and Central High Schools.
Goals
This was not a permanent public installation but a public exhibition curated by The Avenue Concept. The Avenue Concept selected the existing sculpture to be included in the exhibition.
Process
Cynthia Reeves and her team coordinated this, from proposing it to The Avenue Concept to the final installation and de-installation.
