Overview
Play of words highlight abilities of physical-social health. These mosaic medallions combine native California animals and plants to celebrate the goals of the Hamilton Recreation Center to encourage abilities that we all share in different ways and across generations. Adapt-ability, Enjoy-ability, Flex-ability, Endure-ability and Response-ability connect nature, environment, physical health, culture and preservation in a playfully conceptual work of art.
Goals
The goal of these mosaics is to create a thoughtful and fun artwork for the community shining a light on our connections to animals and plants and how our shared health and enjoyment of this planet requires all of our abilities.
Process
Poethig designed this public artwork after discussions with Hamilton Rec Center staff about how recreation facilities serve the community. They were fabricated at Mosaika Art and Design in Montreal.
